There are many evils in our society. The dowry system is one of them. If has become a problem today. Almost every family has a girl. So every family has to suffer sooner or later. An Indian girl is not like a western girl. She cannot choose a husband for herself. Here marriage means business. In the marriage market, boys are bought and sold. The better is the boy, the higher is the price.

           The history of the dowry system is old. The son has a share in his parent’s property. The daughter should also get her share. But we give her presents at the time of her marriage. Through dowry, we try to buy a good husband for her. We search for her a good and comfortable house to live in. We want to make her life happy through dowry. But dowry has taken as ugly turn Monger plays an important part in marriage today.

           The dowry system is a great evil in society. The girl’s birth in the family is sad news. It is all because of the dowry system. The girl has to be married off. Every parent wishes for a happy married life of his or her daughter. But the better is the boy’s family, the higher is the dowry.

           To settle th girl’s marriage is another problem. The girl’s father has to face all kinds of insults. He is asked to spend more and more. He has been saving paisa but paisa since his daughter’s birth, yet the marriage marker is higher. He may have to take loans or sell his land and house. Sugared the sufferings of a girl’s parent.

           Very often the girl has to suffer if the boy’s demands are not fulfilled. The girl’s father wants to save he skin. But the boy’s father likes to rob him. Sometimes the girl is beaten. Sometimes to girl is beaten. Sometimes she is murdered for dowry. We have to root out this evil. We need to reform our society. Let our young boys and girls come forward and accept the challenge.
